Deadly crash in Steele County
The State Patrol is investigating a deadly rollover on Interstate 35 in Steele County.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. Thursday on I-35 at mile marker 27 near Ellendale. Five people were involved in the crash. However, no names have been released at this time. More information is expected to be released by noon today.
According to the patrol, a PT Cruiser was traveling southbound on I-35 when one of the rear tires blew out, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle entered the median and rolled at which time the vehicle split into two. A portion of the PT Cruiser came to rest in the northbound lanes where it was then struck by a motorcycle and two other vehicles.
Assisting at the patrol at the scene were Ellendale Fire, Ellendale Ambulance, Albert Lea Police and sheriff’s offices from Steele and Freeborn counties.
