KoMets take two out of three with strong defense
The Kasson-Mantorville boys soccer team reached the halfway mark of the season last week after going 2-1 to bring their record to 5-2-1 and 3-0 in the HVL.
Monday night brought a skilled Austin team to KMTelecom Stadium and the fans were treated to a hard fought contest with both teams playing with a lot of heart and intensity.
Despite the intensity of play, only 12 fouls were recorded. Austin’s attack featured precision passing and creative dribbling while K-M played their trademark stout defense.
Despite the KoMets best efforts, Austin’s Ochen Ochogr beat three defenders along with the goalkeeper to hammer in the game winner with only five minutes left in the game. Goalkeeper Jack Peterson stood out with eight saves and fullback Ross Wagener had a good night in the back third. The KoMets could only muster four shots on goal, but two were excellent scoring chances.
