KoMets run strong at K-M Invitational
The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton cross country team has had a stellar season for both the boys and girls. However, one accomplishment that was alluding them throughout the year was having an individual win a race. That box was checked off last Tuesday when Brennan Gustafson won in front of a hometown crowd at the K-M Invitational.
“Some races tend to fluctuate depending on who is there,” Pittman said of winning a race. “Some of the larger schools have a larger pool to draw from, so they’ll tend to pick up more victories. We’re getting closer, but we still have a ways to go.”
With Gustafson’s time of 17:24.2 leading the way, the KoMets would have four runners finish in the top ten. Ben Colvin continued his impressive season by finishing sixth (18:09.1), Charlie Miller would finish eighth (18:22.1) and Harrison Heppleman finished tenth (18:23.4). K-M also got strong finishes from Benjamin Trihey (18:51.1, 15th), Tyler Evenson (18:55.8, 16th) and Matthew Determan (19:00.4, 18th).
“The boys ran well overall,” Pittman explained. “We looked better than we did in Lewiston and Northfield is a big program. We were able to keep close with them.”
