Triton’s Drew Kelly shot 50 percent from the floor and led the Cobras with 24 points to help defeat Glenville-Emmons last week.

Kelly’s 24 points lead Cobras over Glenville-Emmons

Over recent weeks, shots haven’t been falling for the Triton boys basketball team. Despite the issues, the Cobras have remained confident that they’re taking the right shots and they’ll eventually begin to fall.

One of those moments came on December 28 when the Cobras traveled to Glenville-Emmons and picked up a 64-47 victory. Triton would shoot 44 percent from the floor including a 24-point effort from Drew Kelly in which he shot 10-for-20 (50%) on the night.

The Cobras and Bulldogs had an even battle throughout the first half, but the Cobras would start to pull away in the second including a key 9-0 run midway through the second half to build a 47-32 advantage.

While Kelly’s 24 points, six rebounds and four assists was a big part of the victory, it was also a great team effort by the Cobras with Nick Roussoupolos putting up a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Brady Essig also added 12 points with four assists.

A 40-25 advantage on the glass also helped the Cobras pick up the victory, which represented their second straight win after losing four of their previous five games. Triton’s record now stands at 3-5 on the season and it will host Cannon Falls on Friday night in a return to HVL action.

The Cobras will also travel to Grand Meadow on January 8 before hosting Zumbrota-Mazeppa on January 9.
