The K-M/Triton gymnastics team fell to Caledonia/Spring Grove, but as a young team, the meet was a valuable lesson as the season begins.

K-M/Triton gymnastics solid in opener

The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton gymnastics team opened up its season on Dec. 1 by falling to Caledonia/Spring Grove 116.5-111.85.

Despite the loss, K-M/T head coach Laura Strandell was encouraged by the team’s initial effort.

“It was a good start for the team,” Strandell said. “I was proud of the little things that we did as a group.”

Cambryn Rubin starred for the varsity team with a great overall performance for K-M/T. The freshman placed first on the uneven bars (8.25 score), floor routine (8.625) and vault (8.9) for a strong opener.

With a young team that’s developing, it’s also encouraging that the junior varsity had a strong performance. Freshman Jenna Jensen placed first on the uneven bars and second in floor routine and Olivia Torkelson finished first in the beam and vault with Olivia Cogswell placing second on the beam.
