Kennedy wins Garret Steiger Wrestler of the Year Award
The accolades for K-M wrestler Patrick Kennedy just keep rolling in. Last month, the sophomore received the Garrett Steiger Wrestler of the Year Award as the top wrestler in Southeastern Minnesota. The award is given out by the Rochester Post Bulletin as an honor to a former John Marshall standout who passed away in a car accident in 2011.
Kennedy went 30-0 last season despite dealing with a knee injury that knocked him out for roughly the first two months of the season. When he returned in late January, he flew through the field helping the KoMets win their third straight Class AA Team Championship and the 182-pound Class AA State title.
Kennedy is the second recipient of the award, which was created last year when K-M graduate (2017) and current Penn State wrestler Brady Berge achieved the honor.
