The Coronavirus has officially spread to Dodge County

Breaking News: Coronavirus hits Dodge County

Public Health officials confirmed the first case of coronavirus in Dodge County Friday afternoon.

Dodge County Public Health Director Amy Caron says the person is in their 20s and it is unknown at this time how it was transmitted. Caron received the notification from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Caron said the coronavirus victim is in isolation at home and recovering. She revealed her team is working with the state and health care partners to address the needs of the patient and provide guidance to others whom may have had contact.

As of Friday afternoon, there are 115 cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota. There are 11 confirmed cases in Olmsted County. There still have not been any reported cases in Steele County.

“There is much that we do not know about this virus and how it has rapidly mutated,” Caron said. “We have no vaccine, no antiviral medication and can only treat the symptoms when they become serious.”
