It's nostalgia at the ultimate

Homecoming 2019 at Blooming Prairie High School will be nostalgia at its ultimate.

This week has featured tons of Homecoming activities designed to bring students and community together. It's a time of excitement when students and community feel a bond together.

Alan Morton, Class of 1948, expects to be in the crowd Friday night when the Awesome Blossoms football team takes on Randolph. Morton, 90, was an outstanding athlete at Blooming Prairie High School and said he is looking forward to a rekindling of school spirit.

Homecoming 2019 began Sunday with a Powder Puff football team pitting the senior girls against the junior girls. A little rain didn't deter the teams from providing some umbrella carrying fans with lots of excitement.

It was a flag football game but just before halftime, the action got a little bit more violent as Quarterback Julia Worke hit the deck attempting to make a first down.

Monday was Pajama Day and also featured the crowning of this year's Homecoming King and Queen.

Congratulations go to the candidates, King: Zach Archer. Zach Weber, Gabe Hagen, Jarrett Larson and Matthew Prior; Queen: Maya Lembke, Gemini Johnson, Virdiana Villarreal, Baylee Sorensen and Riauna Bishop.

Tuesday was Jersey Day. Wednesday was Color Day: seniors, purple; juniors, blue; sophomores, pink; ninth graders, grey; eighth graders, orange and seventh graders, yellow. Staff members wore black.

Thursday is Red, White and Blue Day.

Friday will feature the candidates and MC's visiting the elementary school and Prairie Manar Care Center and the afternoon will feature a pepfest.

A parade starts at 4:15 on Friday with decorative floats and some alumni featured on floats.

The game pitting the Blossoms against Randolph starts at 7 p.m. Following the game, a dance is planned in the high school gym.

My Homecoming was over a hundred years ago (it seems), but I will not forget my senior year. Homecoming was definitely a highlight of my senior year.

Blooming always has an outstanding turnout for its Homecoming. Let's make this Friday, Sept. 27 no exception. GO AWESOME BLOSSOMS!
