Gearing up for Christmas
Saving money can be hard.
For me, it’s not too hard. Just don’t go out or do anything and you’ll find that none of your money will disappear.
But during this time of year, that’s next to impossible.
I’ve found that saving your money throughout the summer isn’t difficult at all, and disciplining yourself is key.
Birthdays are rare during the summer for me, so I rarely go out, and I rarely have to get a present for anyone else. Then you just have to fight the constant urge to buy yourself food. That’s difficult.
But with Christmas just around the corner, it’s almost impossible to keep your money in your bank account.
It’s not that I have to buy all my friends Christmas presents, it’s that I want to.
Yes, that’s what I’ll do this Christmas. I’ll spend all my money on my friends, ‘cause why not. It would have just gone towards food anyway, and who needs that?
With time I’ve also found that Christmas has become less about me, and more about everyone else.
No, it’s not that I’ve suddenly gotten less important, it’s that I’ve started to care less and less about the size of my present pile.
It’s only the beginning of December and I already have made a list of presents to get everyone else for Christmas. The only problem I face? I don’t know what I want anymore.
Which is a fine problem to face. It just means I already have everything I want. How utterly heartwarming.
It’s nice to get others presents for Christmas, especially considering I absolutely love wrapping Christmas presents. But it’s actually really nice, seeing the expressions on their faces. It’s probably my favorite part of Christmas.
I try to avoid actually asking them what they want for Christmas, because who doesn’t love a surprise?
My other favorite part of Christmas is definitely all of the ridiculous decorations. Some people go really overboard with their décor, but those are some of my favorite people. It’s fun to drive around and see all the lights, and the little plastic Santas set up in everyone’s yards.
I know these next few weeks are going to fly by, though, and Christmas will be here before you know it.
Luckily, online shopping isn’t a hassle for me, because it’s where I’ll do the majority of my shopping.
