Another year of school to enjoy

I know that school is just around the corner; I just don't plan on acknowledging it.

I don't hate school, far from it. But I can't help the weird feeling of dread and excitement I get every time around the end of August.

I've always found joy in learning, and I understand it's an important part of life, but something about the repetitive hours and constant homework is more then a little draining.

I'm not going to preach to the choir about how we should have a later starting time, or have more online homework so I don't have to carry three textbooks home every night, because I know it's all been done and said before.

It's sort of like trying to swim upstream. It's exhausting and gets you absolutely nowhere. But I know the point of school is to get me somewhere.

While the downfalls of school for every kid comes to pass, we just have to continously acknowledge it doesn't last forever. It really does seem like it sometimes, but 12 years of schooling is going to fly by way faster then you think it is.

Being in high school really reminds me of that. It's hard to come to terms that some of my older friends are already looking at colleges and touring schools.

I also know this next year is going to dwindle away just like this summer has. I'm hoping it isn't as hard as last year was.

After this upcoming school year dissipates, I'm going to be a senior, which isn't as shocking. I think my brother finally being a high-schooler is going to be more shocking.

He's still just a child, in my eyes, and honestly doesn't have as many responsibilities as I did at his age, but he still seems so young to me. He's taller then me already though, so I think I just see him as being immature rather then young.

Being a freshman was kind of hard, especially since I was a freshman when the school was under construction. I figured out where everything was and I was comfortable with the layout, then, BAM, they changed everything.

They changed everything for the better, thank goodness.

Many will argue, saying, 'It isn't just 12 year, it's college too!' But I'm not even going to count college because I've heard nothing but good thing so far.

While school may loom just around the corner, I know I'm going to have to savor it, because one day I won't have to go to school anymore.

I'll be an "adult" then, and I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to that either.
