Meinard Haberman, 76, Blooming Prairie
Meinard E. Haberman, age 76 of Blooming Prairie, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, St Mary’s Campus.
He was born Oct. 11, 1941 in Austin, the son of Edward and Mary (Rysavy) Haberman. Meinard was a lifelong Blooming Prairie area resident and belonged to St. Columbanus Catholic Church. He made his living working at the Union Creamery in Blooming Prairie as a butter maker, for Lysne Construction, and for Cybex in Owatonna.
On Aug. 26, 1961, Meinard and Janice Marie Branderhorst were married at Litomysl Catholic Church. The couple raised five children. Meinard enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening, or driving around the countryside. He also liked playing cards and going to farm shows.
In later years, Meinard spent his leisure time sitting in his garage on his work bench eating his peanuts. He was a hard-working man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice Haberman of Blooming Prairie; his children Richard Haberman of Claremont, Brian (Becky) Haberman of Northwood, Iowa, Jane Techau of Owatonna, Larry Haberman of Blooming Prairie and Thomas (Jessica) Haberman, also of Blooming Prairie; 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Haberman and Eddie (Nelda) Haberman, both of Blooming Prairie, his sister Mary Alice (Ronnie) DeShanne of Ellendale; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Shannon, and his sister-in-law Connie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Interment was in Bohemian National Cemetery, Blooming Prairie.
