Mary Ann (Koss) Beniak, 95, Rochester
Mary Ann (Koss) Beniak, 95, of Rochester formerly of Dodge Center, passed away on Friday April 12, 2019 in Rochester.
Mary Ann was born on April 23, 1923 to Frank and Mary (Heyda) Koss in Montgomery. They moved to a dairy farm in LeCenter, and then to Claremont when Mary Ann was 12. Mary Ann’s first job was raising several thousand chickens on her family farm. She attended country school and one year of high school. Mary Ann met her husband of 66 years, Rudolph “Rudy” Beniak, at a gathering of their nationality at her family home. They married on June 17, 1941 at St Francis de Salle Church in Claremont. They moved to Dodge Center, to their family farm where she had a beautiful flower garden. She worked as a secretary at the Dodge Veterinary Clinic for 18 years.
Mary Ann was a member of Fairview Care Center Auxiliary, Polka of America dance group, and a bowling league. She is the past president of the Women’s Council of Catholic Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, and St. John’s Choir, where she is also a past director. Mary Ann loved to bake and cook, especially chicken and dumplings. She enjoyed fishing, her quilting group, crocheting, and Taco Tuesday’s at the American Legion in Dodge Center. Her time spent with her family and friends was very important to her. Her family meant the world to her and she will be deeply missed.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Robert (Diane) Beniak, David (Jan) Beniak, and Carol (David) Foley; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rudy.
The funeral mass for Mary Ann Beniak will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 27th, 2019 at St. John Baptist De La Salle Catholic Church in Dodge Center, with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice and Shorewood Senior Campus “Reflections Neighborhood” in Rochester.
