Marilyn Elaine (Paulson) Fiegel
Marilyn Elaine (Paulson) Fiegel, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Maple Manor Healthcare and Rehab in Rochester, Minn., where she resided for the past five years.
Marilyn was born on Nov. 15, 1934 in Faribault County, Minn., to Louis and Martha (Wilke) Paulson. She had five sisters and four brothers. The family moved and resided on the Paulson Family Farm in rural Mantorville for years. She graduated from Mantorville High School in 1952. She was joined in marriage to David W. Fiegel in Oct., 1953. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters, but later divorced.
Marilyn worked as a waitress in her earlier years at such places as the Kahler Hotel in Rochester, the Hubbell House in Mantorville and the old Boston Cafe in Kasson. She later worked and retired from the Dodge County Court House - Auditor’s Office. After retirement, she spent much of her time with family, friends, and grandchildren, volunteering for a time at the Kasson-Mantorville Elementary School as a Foster Grandma to many grade school children. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson.
She is survived by two sons, Garth Fiegel (Kasson) and Gary Fiegel (Byron); one daughter, Jill (Jeff) Wehmanen, (McKinley Minn.); two grandsons, Michael Fiegel (Alyssa) of Montgomery Minn., and Broc Fiegel of Spring Valley, Minn.; four grand-daughters, Jessica (Frank) Simmons of Duluth, Elaine Fiegel (Jeff Prokop) of Kasson, Karli Fiegel (Matt) of Rochester and Larissa Fiegel of Spring Valley; three great-grandsons, Slade Fiegel, Camden Prokop, Nolan Fiegel; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley Fiegel and Willow Prokop. Also surviving are two brothers, Everett (April) Paulson of Kasson and Jerry Paulson of Minneapolis; and sister, Bernice (Roland) O’Groske of Rochester; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Marie Fiegel; her parents Louis and Martha Paulson; brothers Ken Paulson and Robert Paulson; sisters Alice Buske, Dolores Stevens, Shirley Stevenson, and Mary Flikke; and brothers-in-law Lyle Buske, Dick Stevens, Stanley Stevenson and Ken Flikke.
Her infectious smile and wit will be truly missed . . . blessed be her memory!
Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson, on Monday, Dec. 12, with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating.
