Kenneth Anderson, 82, Blooming Prairie
Kenneth Eugene Anderson, age 82, of Blooming Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020 at Thorne Crest Nursing Home in Albert Lea.
Kenneth was born to Julius and Florence Anderson on May 25, 1937, on the Anderson family farm in rural Lansing. While growing up, Kenneth attended the District 30 Joint Taylor country school near Corning. After Kenneth’s schooling, he served his country in the Army Airborne from 1955 to 1959.
In 1956, Kenneth married Sharon Johnson in Lafayette, Ga. In 1973, Kenneth started working as a truck driver for Ulland Brothers Road Construction of Albert Lea. While doing so, Kenneth loved his job and notoriously loved to visit with people, as well as hear and tell stories. Also in 1973, Kenneth began farming the family farm, another job that he loved dearly. At age 64, Kenny retired from Ulland Brothers in 2001, after working there 28 years. He continued farming for a few years after his retirement.
Kenneth is survived by his loving and supporting wife of 63 years, Sharon; three daughters Julie (Jim) Drake of Duluth, Kendra (Steven) Bartelt of Austin, and Kari (Brian) Srsen of Austin; two sisters Jean (Elden) Huemann of Austin, Karen Kinney of Austin; two brothers Dwayne Anderson of Glenville, Russell (Linda) Anderson of Austin; many nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Florence Anderson; three brothers Nathan Anderson; Lyle Anderson; Rueben Anderson; and nine half-brothers and half-sisters.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Interment was in Fairview-Oakland Cemetery, rural Oakland. Military rites by the American Legion Post 91 and V.F.W. Post 1216.
