Joseph “Joey” Patrick Ptacek, 78, rural Owatonna
Joseph “Joey” Patrick Ptacek, age 78, of rural Owatonna, passed away Sept. 6, 2015, at the Homestead Hospice House.
Joey was born to Joseph and Irene (Wanous) on March 17, 1937, on the family farm in rural Steel County. He attended country school and graduated from OHS in 1955. Joey had various jobs ranging from working at Jostens in the yearbook plant, driving truck for Manke’s and owning gas stations. He married Ramona Seykora and to this union they had three daughters, they were later divorced. He worked in the area for construction companies as a mason. In 1990 Joey married Florence Staska. In 2000 he retired and moved out to the country with Florence. He spent his retirement years traveling with his wife, remodeling the country house and enjoying Friday nights at the Hubble House.
He will be remembered for loving everything John Deer. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed grouse hunting with the grandkids. He was a member of the National Guard for 17 years, the VFW, American Legion, Elks and the Eagles.
Joey is survived by wife Florence; daughters Jodi (Randall) Walters, Pine Island, Jacki (Bob) Pitzen, Oakdale, Minnesota, and Jennifer (Joel) Carpenter, Germany; 10 grandchildren; brother Vernie (Pat) Ptacek, Owatonna; and sister Nancy (David) Garner, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Melvin Ptacek. The family wishes to thank the staff at Homestead Hospice for their care of Joey. Friends may greet the family from 4 to7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Rd) and one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Funeral service is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home.
