Helen Ruth Fjone, 94, Faribault
Helen Ruth Fjone, age 94, of Faribault, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 at The Emeralds at Faribault.
A celebration of life will be held at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A private service will be held for the family. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
Helen Ruth, the daughter of Clarence J. and Mabel R. (Avery) Sons was born on June 15, 1925 in Deer Park, Ill. Helen graduated from high school in Hansel, Iowa where she was a member of the basketball team.
On Oct. 31, 1951, she was united in marriage to Duane Fjone in Mason City, Iowa and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2006. They started their life together in Wyoming, traveled to South Dakota and settled in Owatonna. Together, they owned and operated Duane’s Studio, professional photography in Owatonna where Helen managed the studio and painted oil portraits. They moved to Hunt Lake in Shieldsville. She was formerly employed at C & S Vending in Faribault.
Helen’s pastimes included antiques, playing cards, golfing and visiting with friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Andra Fjone (and Pastor Tom Stutelberg) of Robbinsdale and Barb (and Doug) Ruhter of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren, Elizabeth (and Brad) Willett, Stefanie Ruhter, Karl (and Andi) Stutelberg, Jack (and Raina) Stutelberg and Erin Stutelberg, Ginger (and Joe) Bates, Carrie Jo (and Josh) Lake and great grandchildren, Joie Ruhter and Brody and Bryce Willett, Kaydin Kazee, Morgan and Maggie Lake; and special friend, Pat Kern.
Helen was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Sons; mother and stepfather, Mabel and Lloyd Helbling; husband, Duane; two sons, Todd Pandil and Tim Fjone; one brother, David Sons; uncles, aunts and cousins.
