George B. Ressler, 101, Blooming Prairie
George B. Ressler, age 101 of Blooming Prairie, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.
George Bernard Ressler was born Feb. 22, 1918 in Blooming Prairie, the son of Frank and Albina (Motl) Ressler. He grew up and attended school in Blooming Prairie, graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1936.
In 1941, George entered the United States Army Air Corp, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Tillie Christine Risovi on Feb. 14, 1946, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, where the couple remained members. In 1947, George was co-owner of Ressler Lanes and Ressler Men’s Clothing in Blooming Prairie until his retirement in 1983 from the restaurant and owned the bowling alley until 2006, when purchased by his grandson.
George was a lifelong member of the St. Columbanus Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 52, V.F.W. Post 878, and was on the Board of Directors at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. His hobbies included golfing, watching sports on TV, and bowling. He was in a bowling league and bowled on teams around the country. George will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
George is survived by his children, David Ressler of Blooming Prairie and Joanie (Harry) Muellner of Rochester; six grandchildren, Kristin (Jack) Holforty of Carmel, Ind., Michael (Alysa) Ressler of Blooming Prairie, Aaron Ressler of Blooming Prairie, Eric (Melanie) Ressler of Ackworth, Ga., Brian (Sarah) Muellner of Rochester, and Andrea (Chris) Peterson of Eden Prairie; 10 great grandchildren, Jackson and Taylor Holforty, Jake, Jessica, Connor and Kensley Ressler, Broderick and Eleanor Muellner, Ava and Blake Peterson; three step-great grandchildren, Aubry, Kaiden, and Kollyn Alwes; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Albina Ressler; wife, Tillie Ressler in 2015; twin daughters, Karen and Sharen Ressler, two brothers, Frank and Charles Ressler; granddaughter, Bethany Muellner; and great-grandson Jordan Ressler.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. There was a parish rosary service Monday. Interment will be in St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery.
