David Lien, 77, Kasson
David “Dave” Arthur Lien of Kasson, Minn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the age of 77.
Dave was born in Roches-ter, Minn. on Sept. 10, 1939, the son of Maxine and Lester Lien. He graduated from Kas-son-Mantorville High School in 1957. After high school, Dave began his career of 35 years at IBM and honorably served his country in the National Guard.
On Sept. 2, 1961 Dave mar-ried Bonnie Ruport and they resided in Kasson where they raised their only daughter, Stephanie.
Dave was active in all sports, enjoyed snowmobil-ing, playing cribbage with friends, camping and was an avid fisherman. He was a wonderful family man and friend to many. For more than 55 years he went down-town for coffee at 5:30 a.m. with his buddies.
Dave was an active member of the Rochester Quarterback Club and Kasson Ameri-can Legion. He most loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Benjamin and Brooklyn.
Dave was best known for his triumph over any medi-cal challenges posed to him without ever a complaint. He served as an inspiration to all who met him.
A memorial service was held March 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kasson, with Pastor Nirmala Rein-schmidt officiating. A grave-side memorial service was held for family following the service. Military graveside services were provided by the Kasson American Legion and Mantorville VFW.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Fairview Care Center staff for the kindness and compassion shown to him and his family, and to St. Marys Hospital for their continued dedication and excellent patient care. The family also appreciates all who have supported them in this time of loss with their caring words and loving actions.
