David H. Colburn, 73, Hayfield
David H. Colburn, 73, of Hayfield passed away on April 5, 2019 due to complications of pulmonary fibrosis.
David was born on Dec. 12, 1945 to Norman and Berdella (Ellefson) Colburn, the youngest of eight children. He attended Kasson-Mantorville schools. David married Connie Tjoland on July 3, 1966. They had two children and were later divorced.
David spent six years in the Army National Guard. He worked for Marigold Dairies, Rochester Mattress Company and owned and operated a Mobil gas station. He also worked for Milo’s Power and Equipment and the Dodge County Highway Department before starting at IBM where he worked until taking early retirement. He then worked at IFP, Inc. near Hayfield for 19 years before retiring due to declining health.
David enjoyed wildlife, hunting, guns and spending time on his deck grilling out with family and friends.
David is survived by his daughter Jodi (Kerry) Brossard of Byron; grandson Tyler also of Byron; brothers Edward Colburn of Foreston, and Allen (Wyoma) Colburn of Kasson; and sister Lois Packovich of Dennison, Ohio.
David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leslie Colburn; sisters Charlene Colburn, Anne Schuck and Bonnie Quimby; son Curtis Colburn and grandson Cody Colburn-Zimmerman.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW, Kasson, with Pastor David Efflandt officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Byron Cemetery. A lunch will be served at the church following the burial.
