Bonnie Strong, 69, Trapper Creek, Alaska
Bonnie Strong, 69 years old of Trapper Creek, Alaska, passed away on July 30, 2015, with family at her bedside.
Bonnie Lou Ann was born in Waseca on July 24, 1946, to Anton “Tony” Brase and Lillian (Ewest) Brase. Bonnie was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden, Minnesota. Bonnie married Steve Strong on March 12, 1977, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden.
Bonnie attended Owatonna High School, graduating in 1964. After graduation, she worked at Brown Printing in Waseca until she and husband Steve moved to Alaska in 1982. In Alaska, Bonnie worked at the Trapper Creek U.S. Post Office as well as a number of years at the Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Steve Strong of Trapper Creek, Alaska; son Kyle (Eve) Strong of Wasilla, Alaska; three daughters Heather of Trapper Creek, Alaska, Sheyanne of Trapper Creek, Alaska, and Haley (Trent) Duke, also of Trapper Creek, Alaska; two granddaughters Aubree and Ira; two step-children Shawn Strong of Wasilla, Alaska, and Steve Jr. Strong, Nebraska as well as three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Surviving family also include her brother Arlan (Deloris) Brase of Owatonna; three sisters Audrey (Bob) Wornson of Hadley, Minnesota, Geraldine Hemmesch of rural Owatonna, and Jackie (John) Santisteban of Gambrillis, Maryland; and nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Anton “Tony” Brase and Lillian Brase; an infant daughter Bonnie Lou; and brother-in-law Merwyn Hemmesch.
A memorial service was held Aug. 15, 2015, at Trapper Creek Lutheran Fellowship Hall. A private graveside service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden, Minnesota.
