Arthur (Art) Lyle Knutson, 68, Mesa, Arizona
Arthur (Art) Lyle Knutson, passed away peacefully June 9, 2016 in Mesa, AZ at the age of 68.
Art was born January 8, 1948 in Owatonna. He was the son of Orville and Helen (Dahl) Knutson. He was raised in Blooming Prairie and eventually purchased the family farm from his parents in 1974.
After graduating from Blooming Prairie High School, Art worked at OTC in Owatonna and in 1972 he married Mary Borgesen of Austin, Minnesota. In 1983, they made the move to Mesa, Arizona where Art worked as an electrician and then as a General Contractor for a housing developer. Art was always a hard worker and took pride in what he did.
Art was a simple man with many great qualities. He had a great sense of humor, was honest and respectful and most of all, he was caring. After his retirement he spent most of his days “putsin” around the house (as he would say it) doing small projects. He would never pass up a good card game and always enjoyed spending time with his family playing Pegs and Jokers into the wee hours of the night. He loved his family dearly and went on many trips with them as far as the vineyards of California to fishing in Nantucket, to London, England and the glaciers of Norway to a cruise to Hawaii. He also enjoyed visiting with his son Andy and his family, circling the lake in the pontoon in hopes of catching a nice sized northern pike.
Art is in heaven eating Lutefisk and melted butter with his parents, his brothers Arlen Knutson of Blooming Prairie and Gary Knutson of Kasson, sister-in-law Linda Knutson of Blooming Prairie; brothers in-law Randy Krupicka of Hollandale and Duane Herzog of Spencer, Iowa. He is survived by his former wife, Mary Knutson-Murrill of Mesa, and children Sara Zervos of Stamford, Connecticut, Jennifer Knutson of Tempe, Arizona, Andy (Lisa) Knutson of Superior, Wisconsin and Jonas Knutson of Mesa. Art had nine beautiful grandchildren: Emily, Anna, Maria, Amalia, Garret, Andreas, Adrianna, Olivia, Isabella and one beautiful great granddaughter Sofia. He is also survived by one brother Robert (Sharon) Knutson of Owatonna and four sisters: Carol (Glenn) Kruckeberg of Claremont, Janice (Larry) Johnson of St Peter, Audrey Krupicka and Donna Herzog both of Owatonna.
Unanimously, his entire family will remember most of all the twinkle in his eye, his warming smile, and his funny little giggle, especially when teasing the little ones.
The family will be planning a “Celebration of Life” gathering in Mesa during the Thanksgiving Holiday. We ask that instead of flowers being sent, that a monetary donation be given to the Westfield Church c/o Dale Underwood 71829 120th Ave. Blooming Prairie, MN 55917 on behalf of Art Knutson. Sympathy cards with short “Art” stories are always welcomed and can be addressed to Jonas Knutson- 10915 E. Rafael Ave Mesa, AZ 85212.
