Razorbacks rally to beat Tigers, rout Saints

The Westfield wrestling team trailed 21-29 after a loss by fall at 170 pounds, but the Razorbacks won the final three matches to beat Medford 36-29 on Thursday, Feb. 6. They later beat St. Charles 66-9 to end their regular season with back-to-back wins.

Westfield got off to a strong start when Bo Zweiner won by a 5-3 decision at 113 pounds, while Lane Lembke and Alex Lea won by forfeit at 120 and 126 pounds, respectively.

Trailing 0-15, Medford stopped Westfield’s momentum when the Tigers’ Charley Elwood won by fall.

However, the Razorbacks’ Cade Christians won by fall to give Westfield its 15-point lead back, 21-6.

At 145 pounds, Medford’s rally started when Tate Hermes won by technical fall and George McCarthy won by fall at 152 pounds to trim the Tigers’ deficit to 17-21.

Medford then completed the comeback when Willie Von Ruden won by fall. The Tigers’ Josiah Hedensten also won by fall to give Medford a 29-21 lead.
