Search for Kasson city administrator in full swing

Kasson is one step closer to finding a city administrator. The search committee interviewed four applicants seeking the position on Sept. 29. In January, the Kasson City Council voted 3-2 to fire previous City Administrator Randy Lenth, who had served in the position for nine years. Councilman Coy Borgstrom explained the reasoning at the time as, “we want to move in a different direction.” Mayor Steve Johnson, Borgstrom, Al Hodge, Judy Ruport, Paul Alberts and Folmer Carlsen make up the search committee. Both Alberts and Carlsen were unable to attend the interviews, but did review the applications from each of the applicants. The four applicants include: Theresa Coleman, Robert Midtovne, Mike Martin and Dean Zuleger. During the interviews, each candidate was asked four questions from each of the committee members. Coleman was up first. Coleman lives in Lanesboro and is currently the city clerk for the city of Lewiston and provides administrative services through a contract basis. “I know you have a bit of a challenge and I like challenges. I am also a learner, so new situations always present an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and improve my skills and abilities and apply them as well,” she said.  “What a neat little town. You are really poised on the periphery of some really big things coming.”In response to what she could bring to Kasson, Coleman said, “I think I can bring an upbeat, positive spirit to the place. A spirit of cooperation and respect. Just a wish for the overwhelming wellbeing of the community and the overall wellbeing of the employees.”
