Saturday’s 5K raises money for Early Childhood scholarships
Even though there was less sun and more snow than last year, nearly 200 people gathered at the K-M Community Education building on Saturday morning to raise funds for Early Childhood Education scholarships.
According to Jenny Carrier, Director of K-M Community Education, it was “a great turnout. It’s so wonderful to see families come out to support early childhood in our community.”
Of those who were there on Saturday morning, 152 ran or walked.
The first person across the finish line was Broc Threinen, finishing with a time of 19:58.
Second place was claimed by Brian Hunn less than a half-minute later with a time of 20:22.
Matthew Duncan was the first boy across the line with a time of 23:03, Mckenzie Holz finished first among girls at 28:33, and Elizabeth Brennan led those under the age of ten by finishing in 33:13.
After the race people were able to enjoy prizes, free books, an auction and raffle, and a bounce house.
