Breaking News: Craig Schlichting, Todd Meyer finalists for Triton superintendent

Local residents will get a chance to meet the two finalists for the Triton superintendent position next week.

After interviewing five semi-finalists this week the Triton School Board selected Craig Schlichting and Todd Meyer as the two finalists for the position.

Schlichting is currently the principal at Triton High School and has been employed by the Triton District since 1993.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he began his tenure at Triton as a physical education and health teacher in the middle school and has served as dean of students, 7-12 assistant principal and middle school principal prior to becoming the high school principal in 2014.

He has a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Wyoming, a master of science in educational leadership and a master of science in education leadership and administration, both from Winona State University and superintendent licensure from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Meyer is currently superintendent at the Jackson County Central School District in Jackson, MN.

According to his LinkedIn profile, prior to becoming superintendent in Jackson in 2008, he taught American studies and AP U.S. history in Watertown, SD; social studies at Farmington High School, social studies and summer school principal in Northfield, middle school principal and high school assistant principal in Pipestone, middle school principal in Wisconsin Dells, WI and superintendent and K-12 principal in Nicollet.

He has two bachelors’ degrees, in social science education and radio-TV communications from the University of Northern Iowa, a master of arts in history from the University of South Dakota, and 6th year certification in education administration from St. Cloud State University.

The school board will interview the two candidates in public sessions, one at 4:30 p.m. and one at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Triton High School.
