Third-ranked Blossoms overpower Hayfield

The Blooming Prairie football team runs like a well-oiled machine, and unfortunately Hayfield was on the receiving end of the Blossoms’ offensive onslaught as they lost 50-12 on Friday, Sept. 13.

Blooming Prairie scored four touchdowns in the first quarter, including three touchdown pass from Kaden Thomas to Karson Vigeland to take a 27-0 lead into the second quarter.

Hayfield got its first touchdown to trim the Blossoms’ lead to 27-6.

However, their momentum was short-lived, as Matthew Pryor scored a rushing touchdown to give Blooming Prairie a 34-6 lead in the second quarter.

Pryor then intercepted a Hayfield pass which led to another Blossom touchdown when Thomas threw a touchdown pass to Gabe Hagen.

The 40-6 score held until halftime.

Blooming Prairie got a field goal from Colin Jordison to give the Blossoms a 43-6 lead.

Hayfield got its second touchdown when Brady Nelson threw a long touchdown pass to Patrick Towey. The extra point was missed so Blooming Prairie led 43-12 with seven a half minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Blossoms added one last touchdown when backup quarterback Kittelson called his own number and ran it in for six points. The extra points was successful, and Blooming Prairie’s lead strecthed to 50-12.

The Vikings continue their homecoming festivities with a home football game against Wabasha-Kellogg at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.
