BP shuts down Medford 44-0
Like most of the Awesome Blossom games this season, this one was virtually over by halftime. BP steamrolled Medford 44-0 on the home field Wednesday, Oct. 16, and that was the score at the break.
The second half proved just a formality, as the team went through the regular season 8-0, just as they had last season. Now the real season begins.
After Medford punted on its first possession of the game, the Blossoms took just 7 plays to begin the onslaught. Matthew Pryor gained 41 yards on two carries, Gabe Hagen gained 9 yards on a pass, and Pryor forced his way the last yard for the touchdown.
Carson Brenneke began a night of perfection with the first of his six straight points after kick. The rout was on, and BP would score two more touchdowns before the end of the stanza.
Another Tiger punt gave BP the ball on the Medford 45, and it culminated in a touchdown pass from Kaden Thomas to Zach Weber for 3 yards. Shortly before the half, the Blossoms took the ball on their own 35. This time it took four plays, including a 38–yard toss to Mitch Fiebiger for the touchdown. A pass good for 15 yards to Gabe Hagen got the team started on this short drive.
The second quarter touchdowns were sandwiched around a safety when a mob of BP tacklers pulled a punter down in the end zone.
A short punt later in the period turned into another BP touchdown, when it was recovered by BP and carried into the end zone. The final score came after a 6-play drive and a 36-yard pass from Drew Kittelson to Weber.
