The second family member involved in the crash outside of Claremont on Sept. 7 has passed away.

The family of Rachel Harberts posted a short time ago that Rachel died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday. Just two days earlier the family made the difficult decision to pull Rachel off of life support.

“She went peacefully surrounded by her family which she has been for the past few days,” the post read. “Last night Jodi played music for Rachel and Mom and Dad spent all night in Rachel’s room.”

The post went on to say, “The love and support for our family has been the biggest part in getting us through this difficult time. Thank you all so much for that.”

The family encourages everyone to “Hug somebody a little tighter today for Rachel and Emerson.”

Rachel was the driver of a vehicle that was rear-ended on Highway 14 Sept. 7 while she was heading to Blooming Prairie Schools with her children. Emerson died instantly at the scene while her 12-year-old son Jaxon is making a recovery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
