Enjoy the holiday season at Byron Brrrr Fest

It’s fast approaching – the 2019 Byron Brrr Fest scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 12 through Saturday, Dec 14.

The annual event gets under way at 6 p.m. on Thursday with the tree lighting with the mayor and a performance by the Byron High School Choir. There will also be free hot cocoa and cider.

Friday will feature Holiday Bowling at Wildwood at 6 p.m. and drink specials and an outdoor fire at the Bear’s Den from 5 to 9 p.m.

Saturday will feature a full day of activities.

The day starts early on Saturday with the Pajama Run at 8 a.m. followed by the Brrr Plunge at 8:30 a.m. Both events will be at the Bearwood Event Barn, 5901 County Rd. 105 NW.

Warm-up for the Brrr Plunge by suiting up in your finest pajamas and running a frozen mile around the Bearwood Event Barn.

After the Pajama Run, plunging will be available from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

There will be a $10 fee for each event or $15 for both. Families, three plus people, are $30 for each event or $45 for both. Registration can be completed at RaceRoster.com.

The Frozen Pond Plunge is a fundraiser for the Lions Club’s all-inclusive playground in Byron.

There will be a Kid’s Carnival at the DACS building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include inflatables and games.

Also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be an open house at the Byron Historical Center, 11 4th St., the old City Hall.

Thirty vendors will be displaying their wares from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Holiday Market at the Bearwood Event Barn.

Beginning at 11 a.m. there will be a double elimination Bean Bag Tournament at the Legion Hall.  Cost for the tournament is $20 per team.

The Lion’s Club will be selling Christmas trees at Northwest Dental.

From noon to 6 p.m. enjoy Winter in the Woods at the Bearwood Event Barn with wagon rides, winter porch pots and swag creation, reindeer petting, pictures with Santa and axe throwing.

For indoor activities, there will be family bingo at the Legion Hall at 1 p.m. and cookie decorating at 10 a.m. at Otto’s Bakery.

Drop off your Toys for Tots donations from 1 to 4 p.m. at Elias Construction, 813 Grand Ridge Dr. NE.

Then return to the Bearwood Event Barn for Blitzen at the Barn, an adult event from 8 to 11 p.m., $10 per person.

There will be live music, an ugly sweater contest, door prizes, cash bar and Tracy’s Pizza.
