Joe Thomas of St. Could helps guide the eagle into place.

The eagle has indeed landed at the site of the Blooming Prairie Veterans Memorial when a huge eagle  creation was placed atop a POW pedestal Wednesday afternoon.

Joe Thomas of St. Cloud helps guide the eagle to a landing. Some of the granite has been installed and more will be finished by Veterans Day on Sunday, Nov. 11. A walk-through will be held on Veterans Day from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The eagle was donated by John Herrema and his wife Brad, both of Owatonna Granite and Monument. Volunteers on the BP Veterans Memorial Committee worked on fundraising the past four years and reached their $250,000 goal recently.

Official dedication of the memorial will be on Nov. 11, 2019.
