Huskies Working to Become More Consistent

The Owatonna boys’ golf team finished seven out of nine teams on Saturday at the Federated Insurance Open at the Owatonna Country Club. Northfield won the event with a score of 308. The Raiders were followed by Rochester Mayo (310), Lake City (312), Forest Lake (321), Prior Lake (332), Forest Lake’s second team (340), Owatonna (352), Rochester Lourdes (358) and Decorah 367. Northfield’s Casey Parker, Forest Lake’s Ben Muntifering and Rochester Mayo’s Micah Harber finished tied at 73 for medalist honors.

Owatonna’s Corey Gander had an 83, Matt Steel had an 88, Mac Baumgartner had a 90, Jonny Wall had 91, Brody Homan had a 92 and Sam Snitker had a 94.

“We did some good things,” Owatonna coach Mark Langlois said. “We have been around the 350-range this year. Our best score this season is 346. “We have really just had a hard time getting all four scores for us to post a good number.”

Homan (82), Gander (83) and Steele (84) each had personal best on Wednesday at Rochester Mayo Invitation at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester.

“Every one of guys has had those moments,” Langlois said. “We have had some really good rounds. We are just working on trying to be a little bit more consistent. Hopefully that will change this week and we can get down, maybe, in the 330s or 320s.” The Huskies will travel to Northfield Golf Club on Wednesday for the Big

Conference Meet.

“We have our best round coming up,” Langlois said. “Guys are improving and making progress. We will go out and shoot the best scores we can and see what happens. Hopefully we will pull it all together and be able to move up in the standings.”
