A colorful day in Medford
Colored powder filled the air, the hair and the lair of the Medford Tigers Saturday. The annual Medford Color Run was held on a perfect day for a race with bright blue skies and warm temperatures.
“It started out as a small fundraiser for some of the needs in the PE department at Medford,” said host organizer, Alyssa Strunk. “
By the time Saturday rolled around the event had become a notable event on the Medford calendar as there were over 200 pre-registered runners for the event and the parking lot at Medford High School was filled with long lines waiting to register.
The festivities began with a color kids run at 9 a.m. and was followed by the 5K which provided a lovely tour of Medford. Runners left colored footprints that were a lasting memory of a small dream that turned into a reality in bold, living color.
Strunk, who is a physical education teacher and softball coach at Medford who began the tradition was thrilled at the turnout and the helpers who were both teachers and volunteers at the registration and event tables.
The Medford School Wellness Committee stated that The proceeds raised by this event will go towards heart rate monitors for students at Medford Public School.
