Meals in Motion helps BP area residents

The Steele County Meals in Motion makes visits to the Blooming Prairie Senior Center the first and third Fridays of each month from noon to 1 p.m.

This service is for those who cannot afford to get to the food shelf, or for those who have no transportation.

If the residents cannot make it to the Senior Center on the designated dates, Meals in Motion will deliver, says Rich Pettet, Meals in Motion coordinator.

Pettet says Meals in Motion is serving nearly 20 individuals in the BP area.

“We are excited to distribute food to other cities in the county, including Ellendale, Medford and other rural areas.

Meals in Motion will be distributing fruits and vegetables every other week and a 10-day supply of canned and boxed foods, milk, eggs, and meat once a month to those who meet the income guidelines.

Guidelines for maximum annual income are: family size -- one, $23,760; two, $32,040; three, $40,320; four, $48,600; five, $56,880; six, $65,160; seven, $73,460; eight, $81,780.

Add $8,320 of allowable income for each additional family member.
