Chamber Spotlight: Merchants promote “Keepin’ It Local”
Twenty-two Blooming Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce members are participating in a gala holiday shopping program called “Keepin’ It Local.
“We have a great bunch of Blooming Prairie business people and they’re joining hands for this first-ever “Keepin’ It Local” campaign,” said Becky Noble, executive director of the Blooming Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce.
Shoppers have been told to save their receipts from Nov. 1 to Dec., 2. Once a shopper has $500 in total receipts, stop by A Touch of Charm on East Main Street and drop your entry card in the “Keepin’ It Local” box.
Receipts are tabulated at a maximum of $100 in purchases per day per store at one of the 22 participating chamber members.
On Dec. 2, the night of the Blooming Prairie Holiday Dazzle celebration, a drawing will be held for a chance to win a gift basket valued at $550. “There’s something for everyone in the basket,” says Leanne Hanson of A Touch of Charm. One lucky winner will be drawn at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 in front of A Touch of Charm. You need not be present to win.
Chamber members participating in the “Keepin’ It Local” promotion are: A Touch of Charm, B to Z Hardware, BP Chamber, BP Servicemen’s Club, Steele County Times, BP Veterinary Clinic, Bunkies, Dairy Queen, Express Pressure Washers, Geneva Lumber, J & H Liquors, Koster’s Car Korner, Krejci Ford, Metal Services, Miner’s Outdoor & Rec., New York Life, Pizza Cellar/BP Cue Company, Prairie Family & Sports Chiropractic, Sportstitch, St. Columbanus Catholic Church, US Bank and Worlein Funeral Homes.
The BP Chamber is also sponsoring its annual Holiday Dazzle event on Friday, Dec. 2. Bring the entire family to enjoy many fine activities.
The Women of Today are sponsoring a Santa House from 2-6 p.m. at the City Center; horse-drawn wagon rides begin at 5 p.m. the 2016 Scrooge winner will be announced at 5:30 p.m. next to B to Z Hardware; check out the reindeer poop drop at 5:45 p.m.; Kix dancers will be performing on Main Street beginning at 6:30 pm.; carolers and instrumentalists will stroll Main Street and the “Keepin’ It Local” drawing is at A Touch of Charm at 7 p.m.
