BP Legion, VFW auxiliaries salute businesses
Businesses of the Blooming Prairie area were saluted at a special business luncheon Wednesday, April 26 at the BP Servicemen’s Club.
The luncheon was sponsored by VFW Auxiliary Post 878 and by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 52.
Joyce Johns, lead organizer for the event, said more than 180 were served a delicious lunch featuring a Philly sandwich, spring macaroni salad, frozen fruit cup and a chocolate dessert.
Business people had the opportunity to dine between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. “This time frame gave the business people adequate time to eat, visit and get back to work,” said Johns.
The meal was prepared by Servicemen’s Club staff and served by 18 women volunteers. The Liberty Room was decorated in pastel colors for the occasion. Johns and Doreen Blome spearheaded the decorations crew.
The luncheon started last year was a revival of a tradition carried on by the Order of the Eastern Star of Blooming Prairie.
Proceeds from the luncheon will be used to help veterans causes and also to help the Servicemen’s Club with its needs, Johns said.
