‘Tis the season to beautify BP
It ‘tis the season to give Blooming Prairie a beautiful look.
That was the message brought forward by Blooming Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce President Greg Johnson at a regular membership meeting held Wednesday noon, May 17, at Bunkies Grill & Lanes.
With the community into celebrating its 150 years this year, Johnson said it was important to put up colorful flower baskets and to make the Main Street look attractive. New flower containers may be purchased. He reported that eight benches will be installed early this summer on Main Street.
Leanne Hanson, Carol Holman and Lisa Kubista are on the beautification and visitor committee.
Chamber Executive Director Becky Noble went over the highlights of the 150th Sesquicentennial celebration planned for Sunday, July 2.
A kiddie parade is planned. A picnic in Central Park will feature free cake and ice cream and will see 150 balloons released.Live music and beer gardens will follow.
“We want the community to come out and meet business people and our non-profits at Central Park on July 2nd,” Noble said.
Fourth of July button sales begin on Wednesday, May 24. Meet at the Pizza Cellar at 5 p.m. and go door to door in teams.
The Fourth of July of course will feature a gigantic parade and lots of activities in Central Park.
President Johnson reminded Chamber members about its annual Fun Day Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 21.
